Riley at Starbucks

I took my little niece to Starbucks one morning because when I used to babysitt her we would go meet the ladies every Tuesday morning. I think she really liked it. I would order her a strawberry frapp and a piece of Lemon Pound Cake. I just loved all the facial expressions she made in this set of pictures. I knew right away I wanted to make a book shaped like a coffee cup with all her pictures. She looked so much like a little lady gossiping at the coffee shop. I finally finished this project that I have had on my mind since June when the photos were taken. I couldn't find chip board shaped like a coffee cup for this so I used gift boxes. I cut the shape out and covered it with card stock. I picked browns and vintage looking paper. I inked the edges of the pages and on the torn cardstock.I added a ring and some ribbon and used a couple of the little starbucks gift cards that are so cute.Riley, Samuel and I had a good visit at Starbucks.

Just a couple of owls

I got an idea from a stuff magazine on how to do the eyes on these owls. I stuffed them and put a baggy of uncooked rice in the botton to weigh them down. I just thought they were so cute. Oops I noticed I forgot to sew the wings on the blue one.Oh well just thought I would post it before I forget and delete the pictures. But you know what I meant to do. haha.

Mocha you will be missed.

We had to put one of our oldest dogs down a couple of weeks ago and I finally got up to doing her Memorial photo for the hallway. In my hallway I have a gallery of my past pets this gives me closure for the lost of a dear pet.My Mocha was a chihuahua/mini-pinscher she was was very fiesty, loyal and loved to chase bunnies and birds. She always liked it when I was able to take a nap and she would lay beside me. When I crocheted or knitted she loved to lay on my project and nap so I had to move her everytime I needed to start a new row. Now her photo is on the wall with the four others and I hope she is at the Rainbow Bridge barking and playing with them once again.

Alice's wrist warmers

I found this pattern of Alice from the popular movie Twilight wearing these cute wrist warmers. It was on Craftzine.com. I made my set using size 9 circular knitting needles. I go to a knitting meet-up and a lady showed me how to make the magic loop so I wouldn't have to use double pointed needles which this pattern called for.I used Eco yarn color Plums and I made mine a little slimmer since my wrists are smaller then most. I chose the colors because I thought I could wear them with brown, gray, black or plum colored sweaters. I am sure they will be a hit this winter since New Moon will be coming out 11-20-09 can't wait to see the movie!

I love the color Green!

A friend asked me if I would make her special friend a baby blanket for her son. It will be a Christmas present. His bedroom is the Jungle so I made it using the colors of jungle leaves (red heart yarn) and sewed with thread a Monkey patch (Joann's etc.) I really like the way it came out with the crochet stitch Puffy. Hope he likes it!

Dia de los Muertos Monitos

I saw these adorable little felt skeleton people in a magazine. So I decided to make a few. They were easy, fun, and relaxing to make. I didn't make them exactly the same but I hope I did justice on them Jeane! Thanks for the idea.

Look what Daddy did for the 4 legged children!

He got some fake pumpkins from Michael's and a light with cord from Home Depot and carved these pumkins for our Bulldog and Chihuahuas. It took a while but I think they came out great! Since they are fake we can put them out year after year!We got the free downloadable patterns at bhg.com (Better Homes and Gardens)

Little Sack Boys

We rented a game called Little Big Planet for Play station 3 and I just fell in love with this little character. It just so happened there was a pattern online on how to make him. These are the first two I have made but I'm am getting new ideas for all the ones that I am looking forward to making. I think it will be a cute Christmas gift for all my nephews and my friends children. Very quick to make and easy to work on at Starbucks! That is always a bonus!

Vida de los muertos

I am really getting excited for fall.I like all the holidays, cool weather so I will be able to walk the dogs more often and all the family gatherings. I went to Joann's craft store yesterday and they already have Thanksgiving stuff for sale. Just a reminder of how fast time flies by. I found some great fabric for Dia de los Muertos or All Saints day. This is a holiday celebrated in Mexico and by Latinos living in the U.S. and Canada. This holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. It begins on November 1st and All Souls' day which occurs on Nov. 2nd. Traditions include building private altars honoring deceased, using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite food and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these as gifts. I went to a sewing class with my niece today and begin to make these purses/bags and I am still deciding which one I want to keep for myself. It was alot of fun and quick once I got the hang of it. Thanks Jessie for inviting me today!

I made another memory book!

I went to a new scrapbook place with my niece jessica and found this cute book idea. It is a book that came in white and you paint it first with acrylic paint then let it dry and scrapbook you pictures on it. So I decided to do it with my boys pictures. I came out colorful and better then I expected. I was worried about the painting part but is was easy and dried real fast. I am pleased with it and have it out on my dresser in my room for all to see.

Another finished project!

This blanket I made for my friend at Starbucks. She too loves brown and pink together. It was an easy blanket to make and a very different one from most of my blankets that I have made in the past. I am glad she liked it!

Memorial photo for Oscar

My boxer Oscar was old and he went to the Rainbow Bridge on friday. For all my of my pet family I make a photo frame with my favorite pictures of them. I hang them in the hall so I can always see them. I got this idea from Lori Marie Pretty little things. I was going to do it out of cloth but found it very difficult to find ultra suede as requested to use. So i decided to do it out of scrapbook paper. It's just a small part of closure and now he is happy and not sick anymore.Oscar Cano 8-27-97 to 06-12-09. Love you Oscar you were a good boy!

Who-oo- Loves Ya!

I just got done making a special project for one of my favorite nieces. Shhh!don't tell.lol She is all into Owls lately, she is just weird that way. So I saw this idea in a Joann's Ad and thought it would be cute in her craft room. Hanging in the corner or against the wall if she wishes. This project gave me many other ideas to do with Card Stock. Like I could make these into plant posts or scan them and put them on t-shirt transfers and applique them on to pillows or a bag etc. Hope she loves them like I do. I bought a pack of 4x6 card stock and mixed match the colors for the owls body. I used copper wire for the rings and let them be crooked and bendy for effect. I used twine and a real tree branch for the holder of the owls.

Finally finished my crochet blanket!

Yes, I am finally done with this one. I just did it to try out the pattern with scrap yarn from another blanket now of course I had to buy more of the same yarn to finish it; so again I have scrap yarn of these colors. Well now I have to decide who I will give it to; since it doesn't match any room in my house. But at least now I can go and buy more yarn and not feel guilty! LOL Time to look at pattern books!
